Professional Development: High Impact Educational Practices

Faculty and staff are invited to join Dr. Jill Stratton, associate dean, undergraduate residential learning and Dr. Lara Lomicka Anderson from the University of South Carolina as they present their findings on a multi-institutional study investigating the understanding of thriving in Residential Learning Communities (RLCs). The study utilized the Thriving Quotient (Schreiner, 2010) to research how RLCs contribute to students’ academic engagement and performance, interpersonal relationships and psychological well-being, and examined how students ability to thrive correlates with specific components of RLCs. Participating institutions in the study included WashU, the University of South Carolina, Rutgers University and Elon University.
